SHOULD SOPHOMORES TAKE THE PSAT?

In general, we do not encourage Sophomores to take the PSAT but some do. There are a very limited number of tests for Sophomores so those students should look to register as soon as possible.

The PSATs are a practice test so no scores are shared or can be shared with schools. The test is designed to include material which juniors have covered during their sophomore year.

Only juniors are eligible for the National Merit Scholarship program so even if a student took the PSAT as a sophomore they should still take it their junior year to ensure eligibility.
